My name is Bobbi Lynn Cory... and this is My License Plate!

There was a quote I read once. It stated, "The date was January 12, 1966 and the world will never be the
same again. At 7:30 pm, Batman and Robin leap from the pages of comic books to TV sets across
America." Well in my case the year was 1977 and my world would never be the same. This was the year
that I was first introduced to Batman and Robin on television in the live action "Batman" series from
1966-1968. I was totally taken in by what I saw.

I have been and always shall be a fan of the series. Fads have came and went in our culture but
memories are forever. Thank you Adam West and Burt Ward for making some wonderful memories for my
life. I still have not given up my dream of one day our paths will cross and I will get to meet both of you.
Thank you. I will always be grateful.

                           ...and this is My Batboat!

For as long as I can remember, I have been a fan of the Batman TV show. From wearing a homemade
cape and cowl to school and around the neighborhood, to the first time I saw the felt covered Batmobile in
1976; Batman has been a big part of my life. Who would have thought that three decades later, I’d be
sitting behind the wheel of my very own Batboat replica.

The Batboat first came to be when a local promoter was looking for a Batboat to sit alongside the
Batmobile and Batcycle for a large comic book convention. After an exhaustive search two eager fans
decided it would be easier to build one themselves. After making the rounds on the convention circuit,
storage problems forced the sale of the boat, and in December 2007, I became the proud owner of the
Caped Crusaders hi-tech marine crime fighting vessel!

and I am nearly finished dismantling and rebuilding it as fiberglass and metal. The original builders did a
great job and during my research I found the work was in correct proportion to the 1966 original.

The rear fin has been signed by both George Barris and Yvonne Craig, who were both amazed when they
saw the boat. Over the past few years, the ink from their signatures is beginning to fade, so I have
removed the fin and I am currently looking at replacing it with a more durable fiberglass one. The signed
fin now sits in my house as a prized part of my collection.

It has been a one man show, but I must thank all those classic boat restorers, historians, nautical
engineers and of course Batfans, for all their help and advice. Without them, this all would never have
been possible!
The boat is based on a 1969 Glastron V-145 hull and
was built with great detail to almost exact
proportions as the original. Since owning the boat I
have nearly finished dismantling and rebuilding it,
instead of the original metal ones. I want to make
this boat not only an amazing convention display,
but also a fully functional, seaworthy vessel of fans
of all ages to enjoy on shore and off! Nearly all the
vessel's Bat detailings were wooden
Sitting in the boat is a little cramped and very much like a boat
was damaged in a fire some years ago and has since been
retrofitted on a VW chassis so it can be driven in parades. Much
of the information I’ve gathered for this project has come from
the Internet and repeated watching of the 1966 Batman
feature film. This has certainly been a project that I never
thought I’d get involved in.

I made a decision back in October 2008 to get a personalized
easy. For my license plate I chose "BATMAN6" which is short for
Batman 1966. I felt that this was the ultimate way to show
others how much this program influenced my life. I especially
want to thank Adam West and Burt Ward for bringing the
characters to life. My life has been down many a roads. The one
thing that did remain consistant in my life was being a fan of
Batman.
My first reaction was I told my older sister that I was going to Gotham City
when I grew up and I was going to meet Batman and Robin. She promptly
proceeded to tell me that there was no Gotham City nor any Batman or Robin.
I didn't believe her and I didn't give up my dream. I made a decision back in
October 2008 to get a personalized license plate for my car. Coming up with
the plate was very easy. I choose for my license plate "BATMAN6" which is
short for Batman 1966.

I knew Batman was going to be Something Great!

I turned six-years-old the day that the Batman TV series premiered. I was born on January 12, and we all
know that Batman came to life on ABC-TV on January 12, 1966. I had never seen a Batman comic book or
had ever even heard of Batman until the TV series came along. But I knew that Batman was going to be
something great, something special. What I did not realize was the pain and anguish that this little boy
of only six would go through to see the TV show. Our local ABC-TV affiliate in Jacksonville, Florida was on
UHF channel 17. At that time very few people had UHF. Those that did have it, had mostly purchased
converter boxes like the ones out today for the big 'analog to digital' switch.

were able to see it years before were calling it 'kids stuff'. When the 1988 'Batman' movie came out, I
was very disappointed to find out that Adam West and Burt Ward  had been shunned from the film.

How could this be?  Adam West and Burt Ward DEFINED what Batman and Robin were to me.  The movies
in the 80's, 90's and so on are fine, but nothing compared to the TV series and certainly not anything I
can let my six-year-old son sit down and watch.

It is so agonizing that the powers that be cannot come together and get this great TV classic out on DVD
and Blu-Ray.  Alas, the pain and anguish continue!  At least I have the Batman movie on VHS and DVD to
watch until the series is available.

P.S. I throughly enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane with your website.  What a lot of fun.

Chuck chose "My Life In Tights" book for his free gift for submitting this story and photos. Oh, we are going to
also include a signed Hot Wheels - 1966 Batmobile... for his son!
We want to hear from you!  Send your stories and photos today!!!

Burt and would like to share that experience! Do you own your own Batmobile? If yes, lets see a picture

In the meantime, I have turned one side of my son

at an Autograph/Collectable show in New Jersey!

Being a HUGE Batman fan myself I needed to take my wife and daughter to meet "Robin"!!  Weeks before
the show, I was getting so excited, but noticed my daughter lacked interest! So I decided to dust off
some of my VCR tapes (remember those?) with recorded episodes I made when the show was on the
"FX" channel every night. Once my daughter started watching, she was "hooked". Weren't we all??  On
the day of the show, we arrived early to get tickets. Much to my surprise, the Batmobile was there also!!
AWESOME!!!

For submiting this story and photos, Jim chose the 1966 Hot Wheels Batmobile (2007 Edition), and his
daughter chose a Key Chain!

Once we got in inside, we went right to Burt's
table. The line was long, but the wait was worth
it!!  Burt was VERY friendly and took his time to talk
to us and to take pictures with him. He noticed my
daughter was wearing a "AMERICAN" T-shirt with
puppies on it. He started talking about how he
liked my daughters shirt and his love of dogs! We
also started talking about his organization "Gentle
Giants".
Helping a Disabled Veteran Remember...

As a young man growing up during the 60's and 70's, Batman became the ruler on which my life would be
set. I joined the military in 1983 and was injured, I am a disabled veteran who is finishing my degree in
teaching at the University of Utah. I am 46 and was sitting here thinking of the times in the late 70's my
friend Sam and I had been playing Batman and Robin. It seems that wholesome things have come to be
somewhat of a relic of the past. Yet when I remember the warm evenings in West Virginia and the hunt
for criminals in his dads garage.

It seems that Batman and Robin gave me a memory that would last forever. What can I say but that
Batman and Robin made me reach for something more tangible and pure from my reality. They made me
want to help others and become a hero of sorts in their mold. We at times forget what it is to be childlike
and carefree. Embrace the world for all it is worth. Maybe we just need to put the mask on and become
the answer and not the problem! Thank you so much for the memories and fun Mr. Ward, you will always
have a special place in my heart and my memory.

My Dynamic Duo In Action ! ! !

Hey Burt,

Here are a couple pictures of MY dynamic duo in action. As a lifelong fan of all things Batman it's no
surprise that they've grown to love the characters too. I'm sure I've passed along some sort of Bat-Gene.
What does amaze me is just how much they prefer your version of Batman than any of the other
cartoons or movies.

Not that I disagree, but this is in spite of only having a couple dozen episodes on my very worn-out VHS
tapes to watch (HOLY DEDICATION!) and no toys or advertising influencing them on TV. In fact they even
watch Return to the Batcave in regular rotation with the original feature.

Can't wait to hear you on Sponge Bob. I introduced them to you, they introduced me to Sponge Bob....
the circle is complete!

Thanks,
Lee, "Robin" and "Batgirl"

For this story and photos, Lee chose My Life In Tights, and for his Dynamic Duo... we are waiting to hear what
they would like!
Robin... The Boy Wonder In Person ! ! !

My name is Jeff Andrews. These photos are from the mid to late 70's I'd say, not sure about the exact
date unfortunately. Burt had come to Roseburg, Oregon and was appearing at a local "Golden Rule"
store, meeting fans and signing autographs. My older sister and younger brother and I were so excited!
We were going to meet Robin!

It was a fantastic thrill coming face to face with him. That's my little brother in the Batman and Robin
sweatshirt. A moment I will never forget! Here was the superhero we watched every weekday after
school right in our own backyard! Forget about Batman, back then every kid wanted to be Robin!

Burt, thank you so much for the great memories.
Jeff Andrews
I just want to say thanks for the great memories. It made me think of happy times with my brothers and
sisters while we watched everyday episodes of Batman  and Robin after school. I have to say that I was
drawn more to Robin character. I don't know if it was just because he was younger or I had a crush on
him. We also liked reading the POWS, BAM, WAMS. It just brought back so much joy and a smile to my
face to think of those times.
